The Lagos State Police Command has stated that some desperate Nigerians urged the police to declare them wanted in order to seek asylum abroad. SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, made this disclosure in a statement posted on his X handle on Saturday. Hundeyin said he was stupefied when a Nigerian urged the police to proclaim him wanted so that he might seek asylum. “Please, declare me wanted!’ I was stupefied. An unspecified number of people sustained injuries due to a suspected explosion in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State. It was reported that over 20 houses were destroyed in the explosion at Bodija Housing Estate. Injured individuals have been promptly taken to the hospital, as confirmed by a source.   President Bola Tinubu has suspended all the Social Investment Programmes (SIP) overseen by the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA). The information director, Secretary to the federal government, Segun Imohiosen, confirmed this in a statement.
