The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has confirmed that President Bola Tinubu has approved N2 billion as palliative for the FCT. The minister made this known on Monday when he met with contractors in his office after the maiden Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting of the current administration. Confirming the approval of the two billion as palliative for FCT residents, the former Governor of Rivers State, indicated that the fund will primarily solve the challenges of transportation. The Osun State Government on Wednesday disclosed that it is still expecting the N5bn federal government pledged to make available to the state to cushion the effect of subsidy removal. This is as the committee set up for the distribution of the rice components of the palliative disclosed that it has decided to wait for the second batch before distributing the rice to the vulnerable members of the society. The Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi while addressing newsmen on Wednesday at the Governor’s office in Osogbo, disclosed that the state government has received the 3,000 bags of 50kg rice for the first batch but is yet to receive N5bn promised by the federal government. “Yes, we have received all the 3,000 bags of 50kg rice from the federal government, but we have not received any amount from the N5bn it pledged to the state. A 35-year-old woman identified as Chinose Esiaka, has been dragged before Lagos Magistrates’ Court sitting at Ikoyi Custodial Center, for allegedly threatening to kill and kidnap three minors who are between the ages of three and nine. Esiaka is facing four counts of threat to kill, publication of pictures of the complainant, reproduction of rumour and threat to kidnap preferred against her by the police. During her arraignment in court, the police prosecutor, Inspector Friday Mameh, told the court that Esiaka committed the offences sometime in 2022 and between January and March 2023. Mameh said using her phone number in a WhatsApp group known as Rackward Lagos Chapter, Esiaka wrote a threat to kill one Frank Ewuzie. As Nigerians prepare for the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal’s judgment, veteran singer, Charles Oputa, aka Charly Boy, has warned that supporters of Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi , would not accept a rerun of the election. Opta insisted that the court had given judgment in favour of other politicians without ordering a rerun, insisting that Obi will not be different. Recall that the former Governor of Anambra State had filed a suit against the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress ( APC ), Bola Tinubu who was declared winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the February 25th, 2023 election.
