Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, on Thursday, sacked his Executive Assistant on Communications, Latimore Oghenesivbe, for what he described as “manifest recklessness and insubordination. This was contained in a letter dated December 29, 2021, signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Patrick Ukah, and made available to journalists in Asaba. As at October, the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) revealed that 140 million Nigerians were yet to get NINs, with only 64.4 million unique identity numbers issued as at then. However, the figure increased to 70 million this month, meaning only 5.6 million unique NINs were issued between October and December. Consequently, removing the 5.6 million from 140 million showed that 134.4 million Nigerians are still without NIN. This further means that only about 70 million Nigerians might have linked their SIMs to their NINs, having in mind the multi-SIM nature of Nigerians, where an individual operates three to four networks. Disdain not being a manufacturing hub for production or assemblage of vehicles or aircraft, Nigeria has raked in N100.65bn from the export of to Ghana, analysis of Foreign Trade in Goods Statistics reports by Daily Trust has shown. The report released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), stated that Nigeria has in the three quarters of 2021 exported helicopters to Ghana with the commodity increasing the amount of money made in the manufacturing sector. A breakdown revealed that in the first quarter, N71.1bn was realised, with N16.65bn made in the second quarter and N12.9bn in the third quarter. The figure was an increase of over 60bn from what was realised in 2020 as the sum of N43.7bn was made in 2020. However, this was as a result of Ghana not purchasing the commodity in Q2 and Q3 of 2020. Yamba, has allegedly committed suicide after beating his wife to death following a marital dispute in Lusaka, Zambia. This is according to the projections in the National Development Plan 2021-2025. The Debt Management Office had disclosed that Nigeria’s public debt was N38tn as of the end of the third quarter of 2021, with the total debt stock rising by N2.540tn in three months from July to September 2021. This shows that the regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), plans to accumulate about N12tn debt in two years from 2021 to 2023. However, based on the plan, the government targets a reduction in total public debt by 2025. A tabular illustration in the document showed that the government targets N39.59tn debt stock for 2021, N46.63tn for 2022, N50.22tn for 2023, N50.53tn for 2024, and N45.96tn by 2025. Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun has expressed that a disagreement between former governor of the state, Ibikunle Amosun and Chairman of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, cost the state the $16 billion Dangote refinery. The governor expressed disappointment that the state lost a $16 billion Dangote refinery to Lagos State after a break in discussion between the immediate past administration and Dangote. Abiodun stated this during the Convocation Lecture he delivered at the 2nd and 3rd convocation ceremony of the Mountain Top University with the topic, ‘Quest for Excellence: The Nexus of Faith, Knowledge and Resilience’. The governor said he had the privilege to work as the chairman of the Olokola Free Trade Zone that was meant to have the refinery cited in the state. A 46-year-old woman has been arrested and put before a court for allegedly r@ping her neighbour’s 15-year-old son who she had asked to fix lights in her bedroom. The single mother identified as Charity Muwereka, from Plot 8, Nyamwari Farm, Rusape appeared before Rusape magistrate Obedience Matare in Zimbabwe, facing one count of aggravated indecent assault. Although she was not asked to enter a plea, she was however advised to apply for bail at the High Court, while remaining in prison. Prosecutor, Justice Masanganise reportedly told the court that after fixing the said lights in Muwereka’s bedroom, the minor sought permission to leave, but she convinced him to spend the night with her children because it was late and too dark.
