The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board has released important information for all candidates who sat for the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. In a release on Thursday, JAMB said it will screen about 27,105 results of candidates before releasing it. The board also noted that it had withheld 69 results so far. We had earlier reported that the registrar of the board, Professor Isiaq Oloyede had said the board would screen the results of candidates before making them available to the candidates. In the statistics made available via the official twitter handle of the board, @jAMBHQ, the board noted that 1,761,338 candidates registered for the 2022 UTME. It also noted that only 1,671,203 results out of the 1,707,626 candidates who sat for the examinations were released. Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has declared a 6am to 6pm curfew in seven Local Government Areas of Anambra State. The Governor made the announcement in a statewide broadcast on Wednesday May 25, adding that the affected local governments are Aguata, Ihiala, Ekwusigo, Nnewi North, Nnewi South, Orumba North and Orumba South. Kano State Police Command has intercepted a vehicle loaded with sophisticated improvised-explosive devices (IEDs). The state police spokesperson, Abdullahi Kiyawa said the vehicle was coming from Jigawa State when it was intercepted. Kiyawa said Sama’ila Dikko, the Police Commissioner in the state deployed a “crack team comprising Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD)– Chemical, Biological Radiological and Nuclear Defence (EOD-CBRN) and Operation Puff Adder” when an intelligence report was made to the command. The statement added:- “Following a hot chase, the suspects abandoned the Motor Vehicle at Bubbugaje Quarters Kumbotso LGA Kano State.” Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered it was “fully loaded with improvised explosive device materials”. Weapons including two AK-47 rifles, four AK-47 magazines, 1,098 live ammunition and two pistol magazines were recovered. The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has announced that it has revoked contracts awarded before December 31, 2019, where the contractors didn’t move to the site. Dr Ibitoye Abosede, NDDC’s Director of Corporate Affairs, made the announcement in a statement on Sunday. Abosede directed the affected contractors to refund the monies to the commission’s account with the CBN. The statement read in part, “Consequently, all affected contractors are advised to note that all monies earlier received by way of mobilisation for any of the projects are to be promptly refunded. “The contractors are to refund the monies to the commission’s account with the CBN. “This is to bring to the notice of all contractors engaged by the NDDC, as well as stakeholders and the general public, the implementation of the forensic audit report. “The cancellation is also in line with the terms of the contracts for the award of the said projects.” This is coming less than a week after operatives of the
