A Reverend Father Anthony Dawah of the Catholic Church in Kaduna, has been kidnapped by gunmen. According to reports, Father Dawah was abducted on Tuesday, March 30. Confirming his abduction, the Director of communication of the Catholic Archdiocese of Kaduna, Reverend Father Stephen Onyema, said Father Dawah was abducted at Dogon Kurmi village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna state. Father Dawah was reportedly abducted alongside the wife and child of the catechist and domestic staff of the church. This abduction comes barely a week after eight members of the Redeemed Church were kidnapped in Kaduna state. The kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N50 million for the abducted RCCG members. Three weeks after Nigeria began inoculating eligible Nigerians with the COVID-19 vaccine, Kogi state is finally set to start administering the vaccine to residents. Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has sacked the State Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Igbiks Tamuno. Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, says the decision by the House of Representatives to go public on the Sovereignty Immunity Clause in the Chinese loan has delayed the approval for the $5.3bn Ibadan-Kano standard gauge project. Daily Trust reports that the House of Representatives and Amaechi were at daggers drawn last year over the sovereignty clause in the loan agreement with the China Exim Bank which funded the Abuja-Kaduna and Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge trains. The lawmakers had queried the inclusion of the clause which gives China access to some national assets in case the Federal Government is unable to fulfill its repayment obligations but the Minister had warned that such discussion could make China have a rethink on the loan. Well known Nigerian TV show host, Frank Edoho, has blasted the judges on the Nigerian Idol reality TV show, describing them as “trash.” He made his statement in reaction to one of the judges, singer Seyi Shay’s criticism of a 17-year-old boy who had auditioned for the show. Seyi Shay, while reviewing the singer’s performance during the audition, described it as terrible, saying he’s “never going to make money being a singer.” According to her, “I am laughing because I can’t just believe what I just heard. Rashford stated this on Monday during a Q&A session with his Twitter followers. When specifically asked about the best African player he’s faced since making his Premier League debut in 2015. “I think there’s some great African talent in [the] league at [the] moment. The Presidency has announced that President Muhammadu Buhari will leave the country on Tuesday for a medical trip in the United Kingdom. Presidential spokesman Garba Shehu made this announcement in a tweet on Monday. Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has revealed that the Federal Government has borrowed about $2.5billion for the construction of a railway linking Lagos to Ibadan.
