A man has had his heart shattered after he found out he isn’t the biological father of his two children. He made the discovery after a DNA test he was mandated to do at the US embassy. Facebook user, Rita Ebiuwa, who shared the story, said the man who is a friend, had to do the DNA test because of his plans to relocate the children to the US. However, the mandatory DNA test revealed the deepest secret the mother had kept from him. Security operatives have apprehended two criminal suspects and their girlfriends for allegedly robbing residents of their properties in Rivers state. The couples who reportedly specialize in stealing around Ikwerre local government area of the state, were nabbed following a recent security raid at their base. Moji Adeyeye, the Director-General, National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), on Monday said the federal government would pay more than N1 billion as compensation to the companies that had their codeine impounded more than a year ago. Mrs Adeyeye disclosed this on Monday in Lagos at a news conference to debunk a newspaper report that 70 per cent of medicines in Nigeria are fake. Mrs Adeyeye said that there were about 2.5 million seizures of codeine made across the country, adding that government is working out compensations for the affected companies. “It is about a year ago when the documentary about codeine was made which led to the Ministry of Health banning the product. “Since that time, we have been having series of meeting with many government agencies and committees such as National Security Adviser group, the Presidency and the Ministry of Health. “The final point is that we recalled about 2.5 million bottles of codeine and then put them on ho

Twenty states are likely to pay the N30,000 monthly minimum wage. Their governors spoke on the controversial matter after President Muhammadu Buhari signed the New Minimum Wage (Amendment) Bill into Law. Many of the states, however, said certain conditions must be reached between the workers’ umbrella unions and the Federal Government for them to pay. Some said they were waiting for the implementation template from the Federal Government. Labour, which vowed not to condone non-implementation of the new wage, plans to pile pressure on the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC) to release the template to state governments. The Vice Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC), Sunday Salako, said the union would continue to put pressure on the government agency not to delay the template for the new wage to states. A 34 year-old Nigerian, Samuel Nkennaya, has been killed while another Nigerian, Chinonso Nwudo is in critical condition in South Africa following mob attack. Victor Ayanfe-Oyebanjo, Secretary of Mpumalanga Province branch of the Nigerian Union in South Africa, NUSA, disclosed this in a statement made available to News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday. NIS Public Relations Officer, Sunday James, said the new booklet was part of a comprehensive passport reform approved by the Federal Government to improve the quality and security against damage, counterfeit, and forgery for Nigeria citizens. He said new booklet will be available in Ikoyi on Monday, June 3 Alausa, Lagos on July 8 and London on July 29, 2019. James had in January urged Nigerians to take advantage of the features of the 10-year validity passport which includes self-tracking of application and express centres for urgent application.
