Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, has denied firing 12,000 workers and removing three monarchs from power in the state. This clarification was provided by the governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, on the talk show program “Frank Talk” on Rave FM in Osogbo. He explained that no worker was sacked, rather, the state government set up a panel to review their employment. Rasheed said: “There was never sack of any worker or traditional ruler. The Oyo State Government has said the principal of schools recently delisted by the West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC) for examination malpractices in the state would be sanctioned. It also added that the parents of the students involved would also be sanctioned. NAIJALOADED recalls that WAEC has delisted about 50 secondary schools in the state over examination malpractices. Mobolaji Olajuwon, the presiding judge, issued the ruling on Tuesday, following a suit filed by Patrick Okoli, a former police officer who claims he was unlawfully and compulsorily retired from the Nigerian police force. According to the affidavits in support of the suit, the applicant (Okoli) was forcefully retired in June 1992. After challenging his forceful retirement, a Bauchi high court on February 19, 1994, delivered judgment in favour of the applicant and quashed the letter of compulsory retirement. The high court also ordered that the applicant be reinstated with all rights and privileges. The Court of Appeal in Abuja has upheld the senatorial candidacy of the ruling All Progressives Congress candidate for Yobe North, Bashir Sheriff Machina. The Appeal Court in a unanimous judgment affirmed the earlier decision of the Federal High Court, Damaturu which declared Machina as the rightful senatorial candidate of APC for Yobe North. The Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, has signed N138 billion budget for 2023 fiscal year into law. A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Ismail Omipidan, on Friday said that the governor signed the bill into law on Thursday night. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the state House of Assembly on Wednesday passed the appropriation bill. The total recurrent expenditure of the budget is N99.2billion, while the capital expenditure is N39billion. While signing the budget, Oyetola said that the 2022 budget as at the third quarter of the year, had recorded 83 per cent performance. He stated that with the passage and signing of the appropriation bill into law, the January-December budget cycle had come to stay. The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has reassured residents of the safety of their lives and property. A statement on Friday by the Director of Information, Muhammad Sule, said the FCT Security Committee met on Thursday. The government assured that adequate security arrangements have been made to sustain the state of law and order. The committee said everything possible is being done to checkmate the activities of criminally minded persons. The meeting discussed kidnappings in rural areas of the territory including the Yaba axis in the Abaji Area Council.
