The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has filed a lawsuit against President Muhammadu Buhari “over his failure to probe allegations that over ₦880billion of public funds are missing from 367 ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs).” SERAP wants Buhari to ensure the prosecution of those suspected to be responsible and to order the recovery of diverted public or any missing funds. The suit followed the stern allegations contained in part 2 of the 2018 annual audited report by the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation that ₦880,894,733,084.811 was spent by 367 MDAs without any appropriation. This was disclosed in a statement by Kolawole Oluwadare, SERAP’s Deputy Director, on Sunday. The federal government has announced the extension of the ongoing national identification number (NIN) and subscriber identity module (SIM) integration exercise till December 31, 2021. The deadline was shifted from the previous date of October 31. Minister of communications and digital economy, Isa Panatami announced the approval of the federal government to extend the deadline in a statement issued on Saturday. The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has condemned the raid on the residence of a justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Mary Peter-Odili, by a group of yet-to-be-identified security operatives. In a statement on Saturday, NBA President Olumide Akpata listed some of the actions to be taken by the legal body to ensure the perpetrators were brought to justice. Alayna Osilalu, the wife of late Faruq told US media that her husband, a driver with a transportation company, was found dead on October 4 but he was listed as a John Doe, until recently when authorities were able to identify him through his jewelry. She said he was giving someone a ride on the day he was last seen and that what happened to him remains a mystery. The distraught new mum said his remains were so badly damaged that investigators could not figure out his fingerprints. She said her husband worked as a private contractor under Sedan Service in Baltimore and that she reported him missing on September 19, two days after his last known ride.
