Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith Church has spoken about how people accused him of being the devil for preaching about prosperity. He added that they even wished him dead. Oyedepo disclosed that he was called a devil for preaching prosperity. He disclosed this while preaching to his members at the church’s headquarters in Ota, Ogun State on the theme “Blood of Sprinkling Service” on Sunday. Oyedepo said Nigerians were angry that he was preaching prosperity instead of suffering. He, however, said some of his attackers are now preachers of prosperity. According to a report by The PUNCH, at least a student of the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, was reportedly shot dead in the early morning of Saturday at Lajolo village in the Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State during a clash between some cult members and policemen. The victim simply identified as Jamiu, a final-year student of the institution, was allegedly shot with two others while two policemen were also confirmed to have suffered gunshot wounds during the blood clash. Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ajayi Okasanmi, who confirmed the incident in a statement, said the clash was between police detectives from the Special Tactical Squad, Abuja, and some cult groups who were meeting around the village. The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) and Ikeja Electric (IE) Plc have given reason for the outage currently being experienced by customers under their networks. The DisCos in statements issued on their social media pages on Saturday attributed the outage to a drop in power generation. EKEDC said the reduction in supply was due to the drop in power generation from an average of 3,700MW to 2,000MW per hour. The DisCo noted that this was as a result of gas limitations arising from vandalism, and more recently an issue affecting the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) line from the Egbin Power Plant. The National Examinations Council has announced the commencement of registration for the 2022 National Common Entrance Examination for admission into JSS I of Federal Unity Colleges. NECO Registrar, Dantani Wushishi, made the announcement in an official jingle on the council’s website. Wushishi said the registration was only for pupils who would not be less than 10 years of age by September 2022. “National Examinations Council wishes to inform the general public that registration for the 2022 National Common Entrance Examination for Admission into Federal Government Unity Colleges has commenced. “Registration fee is N4,500 per candidate, while payment should be made into NECO treasury single account through ATM card, bank branch, USSD, internet banking or wallet,” he said. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has reviewed charges and rates for banking activities in the country. This was disclosed in the CBN new ‘Guide to Charges by Banks Other Financial and Non-Financial’ according to findings by DAILY INDEPENDENT. The apex bank said the guideline applies to charges by Banks Other Financial and Non-Financial under its licence or regulation. The document revealed that the CBN has reduced the charges on some transactions including Standing Order Charge (In-Branch); ATM Maninance Fees; Electronic Fund Transfers and Bulk Payments among others. In the latest guideline, CBN said Standing Order Charge for intra-bank will be free compared to the N300 in the 2017 guideline. For Interbank Transfers, the CBN cut the charges to a maximum of N50 per transaction compared to the N300 held in 2017. Nigeria Police Force has charged the owner of Hilton Royal Hotel, Dr Ramon Adedoyin, and six others to an Abuja High Court over the circumstances surrounding the death of Timothy Adegoke, the MBA student of the Obafemi Awolowo University, who reportedly died at the hotel on November 6, 2021. Adedoyin, according to a statement on Tuesday, is being charged with the offence of unlawful interference with a dead body, while the other six accused persons are charged with various offences ranging from murder, conspiracy, altering receipt, along with other stated offences. According to the case summary and proof of evidence filed by the Police, Adedoyin is being charged for illegally disposing of Adegoke’s body, altering and cancelling his payment receipt and the removal of the hotel’s CCTV cameras with intent to destroy evidence. The Oyo State Police Command, on Tuesday, said a 23-year-old suspected burglar has been arrested. The suspect identified as Awoola Tobi, was arrested in Ibadan, the state capital. One person died on Sunday after a truck conveying granite fell on a bus at the bad portion of Sango tollgate, along the Lagos-Abeokuta highway, Ogun State. The accident, which occurred at 5:10 pm, claimed the life of a commercial bus driver, while the truck driver sustained no injury. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident, saying the yellow Vanagon bus was registered as FST 744YD, while the Howo truck was marked LND634YE.
