Dr. (Mrs.) Oni Salawu Aderike, the abducted wife of the Oyo state All Progressive Party (APC) Youth leader, Mogaji Isiak Aareokuta has been released. Recall that she was kidnapped last week by unknown gunmen at the Aromolaran area of Ibadan, Oyo state. According to reports, she was driving home after closing from work around 10 pm when she was accosted and whisked away in a Nissan Micra car. Sources revealed that the abducted Oyo APC chieftain was released hours ago on Monday, May 31 2021. The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has insisted that it’s not a terrorist group and does not spill blood. IPOB, while distancing itself from Gulak’s death, stressed that the assassination of politicians is not part of its agenda. IPOB made the remark while insisting that it was not responsible for the murder of Ahmed Gulak, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan. Some gunmen murdered Gulak while on his way to Sam Mbakwe Airport in Owerri, Imo State, yesterday. The Nigeria intelligence community had linked the Gulak’s killing to IPOB, but the state Police Command had refuted such claims. Imo State Police Command spokesman, Bala Elkana, had said armed bandits murdered the former presidential aide. However, Elkana later recanted his earlier remark, saying men of the Eastern Security Network, ESN, killed Gulak. As reactions continue to trail the killing of a former presidential aide to Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on Political Matters, Ahmed Gulak, a former Senator, Shehu Sani has condemned the heinous act. In a tweet he posted on Sunday, he posited that there are forces working to trigger ethnic war between the northerners and the Igbo people of the Southeast. He called on Nigerians to resist the temptation of joining forces with bad elements anywhere in the society trying to plunge the nation into chaos, adding that IPOB’s statement dissociating themselves from the act should be accepted in good faith. The Police has confirmed that Eastern Security Network (ESN) fighters controlled by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) killed Ahmed Gulak in Imo. Earlier, the police had described the attackers as “armed bandits”. Gulak, an Adamawa Indigene, was the Political Adviser to former President, Goodluck Jonathan. After the gruesome murder, it was reported that intelligence services immediately indicted the ESN militants. But Biafra supporters dismissed the publication, insisting Gulak’s murder was “political assassination”. We later saw the Situation Report (SITREP) which confirmed ESN fighters blocked the Airport road at Obiangwu Junction at Ngor-Okpala LGA and shot the politician. A statement Sunday night by SP Bala Elkana, Public Relations Officer, Imo Command, announced that the secessionist group perpetrated the act. A former Judge of the Enugu State High court, Justice Stanley Nnaji has been killed by unknown gunmen who also made away with his Mercedes-Benz Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) in Enugu State. In a video that has gone viral on social media, the former Judge was shot in the chest and robbed of his SUV by men on mask. The assailants, numbering three, double-crossed him along Ebeano Tunnel, Enugu, dragged him out and drove his car away after killing him. Confirming the development, the Enugu State Police spokesman, Daniel Ndukwe in a statement released said the gunmen trailed him from an unknown location to where they shot him and took his car away. Manchester City midfielder Kevin de Bruyne suffered a fractured nose and eye socket in the Champions League final defeat against Chelsea. The aide of former President Goodluck Jonathan, Ahmed Gulak, was reportedly shot dead in Imo State couple of hours ago. He was killed on his way to Sam Mbakwe Airport when gunmen intercepted the vehicle carrying him and two others. Some Northerners are already pointing accusing fingers on IPOB/ESN. Others claimed he was murdered by Imo state governor Hope Uzodimma. Hmmm! The big question now is, who killed Ahmed Gulak? IPOB/ESN? Why would they do that?
