FBI train Nigeria police, other security agencies on bomb blast investigation

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States of America (FBI) have trained 31 participants drawn from the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Navy, the Nigerian Air Force, the office of the National Security Adviser and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps. The participants were trained on investigating post-blasts scenes. The team of bomb experts from the FBI led by Michael Trubenback and Thomas Conboy, during the training on Monday said the security agencies have lots of work on their hands in tackling the menace of terror attacks in Nigeria. Senate orders slaughter of roaming cows in FCT

The Senate Monday ordered the slaughter of cows found roaming within the Federal Capital City (FCT) Abuja metropolis.In the alternative of slaughtering such roaming cows, the upper chamber said that the cows should be arrested and a fine of N50, 000 imposed per cow. Boko Haram fighters attack village near Chibok, residents flee

Armed gunmen believed to be Boko Haram members are currently attacking Kuburvwa village in Borno state. The gunmen invaded the village (that isabout 10 km from Chibok town) at 6.30pm shooting sporadically and making locals hide in the nearby bushes. Information was made public by Abbas Gava, an official of the vigilante group of Nigeria in Borno state, who spoke to Premium Times journalists on phone from Maiduguri. Giving the details of the situation Mr Gava said: “As I am speaking to you now the gunmen are setting every house on fire after chasing the villagersaway. A senior Nigerian lawyer, Femi Falana, has asked the Economic and Financial Crimes, EFCC, to promptly investigate a range of dealings involving alleged diversion of public funds overthe years by government establishments, including the central bank, under former governors, Chukwuma Soludo and Lamido Sanusi. A Deputy Detective Superintendent of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Uzodinma Agbazue, has been arrested for allegedly receiving a N15m bribe from a lawmaker who is currently under EFCC investigation. 6 dead, 45 cases recorded in Lagos cholera outbreak

LAGOS—THE Lagos State Government, yesterday, disclosed that 45 cases of cholera disease has been recorded in Isolo Local Council Development Area, LCDA, of the state, with six deaths already recorded. Giving update on the outbreak, at a press conference in Lagos, the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris explained that out of the six cases, two were brought in dead. He added that 36 cases have been successfully managed in various hospitals across the state while four people are currently responding to treatment. According to the commissioner, the main source of the outbreak has been traced to local consumption of Salad called Abacha, a staple food of the residents of Isolo council area. Breaking News: Kidnapped Isheri landlords, trainer freed

Three landlords at Oshorun Heritage Estate, Isheri and their trainer kidnapped last Saturday on Channels Avenue have been freed.
