Premier League champions, Leicester City travel to Manchester to face Jose Mourinho’s side in what is set to be an enticing clash. The two sides have already met this season in the Community Shield with United emerging 2 – 1 victors.Jesse Lingard’s opener, which was a solo goal was cancelled out by Jamie Vary who pounced on a loose back pass from Maroune Fellaini to even the scores. However new signing, Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the winner via a header.
The two teams have a lot in common; midfielder Danny Drinkwater was a former Man Utd player before joining Leicester while right back Danny Simpson was once on the books of United.
Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeicel is the son of United legend Micheal Schmeicel. Furthermore, the two coaches have a history.For starters, Leicester City’s 2 – 1 win over Mou’s Chelsea in December 2015 sealed his Chelsea fate, it safe to say the Italian had the last laugh ashis side won the Premier League last season.
Many would say, Ranieri is one of the coaches Mourinho probably hates and comments by the former Real Madrid coach suggests as much. Back in 2004, Ranieri was the man sacked to be replaced by Mourinho at the start of the Roman Abrahimovich era.
United come into this game after a 2 – 1 win over Northampton Town in the English League Cup which Leicester suffered a 4 – 2 set back against Chelsea in the same competition.
