REALLY!!!! Covering Your Number Plates Criminal Offence – Police Warns Motorists

The Nigeria Police issued a warning, stating that it’s a criminal offense for motorists to obscure their number plates without valid reasons.

Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi highlighted the importance of keeping registration numbers visible at all times.

He emphasized that covering number plates without justification is unlawful and compulsory registration requires clear number plate visibility.

Adejobi specified exceptions for government officials using pennants or flags on official cars, allowing their numbers to be covered after 6pm or when not present in the vehicle.

The police have previously prohibited the unauthorized use of unmarked vehicles and obscured number plates nationwide.
