Omah Lay has actually done pretty well for himself in these past two years.

Since his sensational debut in 2020 with the iconic “Get Layd” EP, the guy has been on a roll.

Releasing two bestselling EP’s in a year, getting the Next Rated award, collaborating with such important artists as Wizkid and 6lack, having the most-played song of the year two years in a row, and becoming the poster boy for Afrobeats.

Only a few of his peers come close to him when it comes to achievements, and that’s why the “Bad Influence” singer’s forthcoming debut album is one of the most anticipated albums in recent time.

There’s a lot of speculation on whether his album will live up to the standard he’s set and exceed people’s expectations. Or whether it’ll flop and hurt Omah Lay’s career. You can never tell before the project is here. All we can do is speculate.

The conversation lately though has not been in favor of Omah Lay. A couple of weeks back, he released a song featuring Justin Bieber, one of the most popular artists in the world.

That wasn’t the first time Omah Lay has been involved in something with Justin. He was on the Afrobeats version of Bieber’s hit, “Peaches” last year.

But the new collabo, “Attention” has received mixed reviews, with most people remarking that it’s a betrayal of Omah Lay’s quality and that they could’ve done better. Also, the numbers they’ve managed to pull hasn’t been encouraging at all.

Omah Lay has seen better times, of course. But right now, the streets are saying “Attention” just ain’t it. No Billboard Hot 100 debut, not on the Top 10, and poor streaming numbers.

So, maybe the guy that said Omah Lay wasted a Justin Bieber feature was on to something, after all.
